乃東枯（なつかれくさかるる）七十二候　

なつかれくさかるる　今日は夏至です。日に日に夏に向かって緑が濃くなる今日この頃ですが、冬に咲いていいた草花が終わる時期。それがこのウツボグサが枯れゆく頃という意味です。

七十二候（しちじゅうにこう）は、日本の1年を72等分し、季節それぞれのできごとをそのまま名前にした、約5日ごとに移ろう細やかな季節です。
