English
The seventh of the 72 phenological periods, Niji Hajimete Arawaru (虹始見), refers to the brief period from around April 15th to 19th.
During this time, rainbows, which were rarely seen during the winter, can be seen again.
This is because the spring sunshine becomes stronger and the amount of moisture in the air increases, creating conditions that are favorable for rainbows to form.
In addition, the increase in the number of rice fields and water surfaces, which have strong reflective light, also increases the chances of seeing rainbows.
Niji Hajimete Arawaru is a beautiful natural phenomenon that heralds the arrival of spring.
